Experience

Earnie started his career in retail in 1966 with Leeward's Crafts Inc, a subsidiary of General Mills Inc. Specialty Group that later merged with Michael's Crafts Inc. He ran a retail distribution center, managed Leeward's first retail store and helped to grow Leeward's to a chain of 26 stores located in 17 states. Earnie was on a committee that advised on strategic direction, reviewed and approved new retail store locations for the chain.

In 1975, Earnie became a real estate broker in the state of Illinois and opened up a full service real estate firm.

In 1984, Earnie became a real estate broker in the state of Michigan and joined Electronic Data Systems (EDS) Corporation where he was responsible for new business development and led major retail systems integration projects to support General Mills specialty retail companies (Leeward's, Talbot's, Eddie Bauer and Wall Paper to Go), The K-Mart Corporation and many others. He was an advisor on retail systems to support Sears Discover Cards, Disney World France and Coles Myer of Australia. Earnie also led major automotive industry systems integration projects for General Motors Corporation North America and Detroit Diesel Distributors World Wide. In addition, he collaborated with management consulting firms such as McKinsey & Company, Management Horizon Corporation (TNS Retail Forward) and AT Kearney on major corporate restructuring, short and long range planning assignments.

In 1999, Earnie accepted a position at LaKritz-Weber & Company (Now Mid-America Michigan) as a real estate broker. During his tenure, he became a Mississippi real estate broker to further extend his reach.

In 2011, Earnie continues exploration of opportunities beyond the radar screen as principal of his own firm.

Career Highlights

In addition to past corporate retail management and real estate experience, Earnie has partnered with other LaKritz-Weber team members, ChainLinks offices and other brokerage, disposition and development firms throughout the U.S. in the sale or lease to tenant or re-tenant many of the names seen on this page.

Affiliations

Earnie's memberships included The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and ChainLinks Retail Advisors. ChainLinks Retail Advisors is comprised of privately owned entrepreneurial companies in 60+ cities with over 600 handpicked retail real estate specialists. Earnie was also a member of the ChainLinks Hospitality Council, that brought him into contact with major hotel brands, owners, developers, real estate investment trust and management companies.
